Yes, if you're a Mandarin speaker. Duolingo offers a Cantonese course that uses traditional Chinese characters.
No, if you're an English speaker. Duolingo doesn't currently have a Cantonese course in English.
Pros (Mandarin speakers):

Good for basic vocabulary and grammar
Useful as a starting point or extra practice
Cons (especially for English speakers):
No English version
Fixed learning path, not personalized
No live tutors
AI often uses written Chinese instead of how people really speak

So, Can You Really Learn Cantonese from Duolingo?
In my experience, Duolingo is a helpful tool. It’s great for getting started, picking up vocabulary, and getting more exposure to Cantonese. I often recommend it to my students for extra practice.
But if you want to speak naturally and have real conversations, it helps a lot to learn with a tutor. A teacher can explain things clearly, correct your pronunciation and mistakes, and practice speaking with you. That’s something an app can’t really do, especially for a language like Cantonese.
